I would like to tell you about a beautiful charity that is run here in Melbourne. My good friends Desley Winer Bresley and her sons Ben and Adam started the Sweet Princess Charitable Trust in memory of their daughter and sister, Nicole Bresley. I am extremely honoured to be a patron of Sweet Princess.

From the website:

‘Created in loving memory of Nicole Sarah Bresley (12.11.1986 – 24.07.2003), our beautiful daughter and sister who passed away at the tender age of sixteen.

At 14 months of age Nicole was diagnosed with Rett Syndrome, a neurological disorder. She never walked or talked and had limited hand function but she loved people, had a great sense of humour and most of all loved music.

As a legacy to Nicole we have started the Sweet Princess Charitable Trust with the hope of providing help to families in need, predominantly in providing music and music therapy to families of children with life threatening illnesses.’

Here is an article from the Age about the trust (with a picture of my dad playing to Nicole)
Music brought a lot of pleasure to Nicole during her short life and I am so admiring of her family who are trying to share that joy with others.

Here are some photos of music sessions that the trust has put together….
